The Daniel Foundation helped fund the preservation of the history of the U.S.S. Alabama battleship with a grant of $25,000. The funds will be used to bring static displays to life aboard the battleship by creating audio, video, and lighting that will intrigue the visitor to further question and explore day to day operations on the ship and the life of a sailor while at sea during World War II. The objective is to provide an unforgettable educational experience for visitors of all ages and bring the history of the battleship to life.
The 175 acre Memorial Park in Mobile was established in 1963 to develop and operate with a mission to honor all Alabamians who had served in all branches of the military. The Battleship Foundation was formed in 1993 to offer financial support to the park while preserving history for future generations. The park hosted over 290,000 visitors last year.
